week 5
Halloween History Image
The First draft of my Halloween image started with tools from Illustrator. I used the shape tool to create the body and the eyes of the pumpkin. I created the stem by using first the shape tool to create a square and then the pen tool to bring the stem to life. The words were also used with the pen tool. I added the orange color by sing the fill and the stroke. I used the word Halloween as the mouth to give the image itself meaning along with the letters. The letters stylized made the mouth creepy and gave the pumpkin a Halloween look to it.
This version of the pumpkin I added style to the eyes to bring them out and also a chalk style to the whole pumpkin to add contrast to the orange color. I wanted the black chalk style to match the style of the letters that spell out Halloween.
History Analysis
· Halloween
was known as an ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain, it marked the end of
a harvest season. They believed that
this transition period from fall to winter was a bridge from the world of the
dead. The Celtics
believed that the ghost of the world would return back to earth and so the
dressed up in animal skins and had huge bonfire to ward off evil spirits (History.com Staff).
- Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome in honor of all Christian martyrs. Also Pope Gregory III included all saints in the festival which Christians know as all saints day but later be called all hollows eve (history.com Staff).
- Trick-or-treating probably originated during the All Souls’ Day parades in England. The poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called “soul cakes” in return for their promise to pray for the family’s dead relatives (History.com Staff).

Week 3 and 4 ABCs drawing -jsantor
This is the starting point of my ABC drawing, my next step is to finish with ABC shapes.
Craft with Composition
The tools I used to achieve this ABC drawing is Illustrator. I used the pen tool to create a unique font for my ABC's. I first made the ABC's normal and enhanced them them by adding my own style. Some of the letters you can see have pointy edges making the letter different from a usual version . I also add some squiggles to certain letters like O and Q. The font that I have created is called Vampire-Ninja.
The color I added to the front is red, which is on the inside of the letters. The outline color of the front is black. The black color is stylized with a charcoal outline which adds a creepy , vampire look to it.
This how my font name was created with symbol to represent it. I used the shape tool and pen tool in Illustrator to make a ninja throwing star but you can also see a outline of a cross to represent the vampire part of the font name.
This one I added style to make it look more bold and have a similar look to the letters.
This one i made to look 3D by adding another version of the shape over it and making the fill a lighter color. I also turned down opacity level.

week 2 100 Line Drawings
Craft
For the 100 line assignment, I first drew out the objects on my paper using 100 lines.
The drawings took more time because I was figuring out how big and small each line should be. I also was trying to figure out how close to together the lines should be to make the shape of the object. Drawing the object by looking at it was difficult. It took many attempts to get the portions down by using lines. Finally I realized that if certain lines were closer together and smaller it gave the drawing the shape I were looking for.
As you can see in the photo below the lines at the bottom start out large and then become small. After that, the lines get close together and gradually get bigger toward the top of the object. This process helped me show the curves and the different proportions of the object I was drawing.
In class we transferred our drawing on paper to Illustrator. This was simpler because we were no long looking objects and trying to develop lines but we were looking at the line drawing and following each line. It can be a little hard because drawing on a computer program is not the same as paper. The steps of making the drawing on Illustrator was just following it line for line.

Composition
In illustrator after transferring the drawings, there are different ways to add style. I added a Charcoal style and a water color style to give the line drawings a unique look to it.
